I tried needlepoint, but after crafting a couple items (no critical successes )
my needles became brittle and broke and there was no one around to repair them. Apparently the Master Needlesmithy ran off with the Supplier from Estendil (right when I needed some cloth and thread, natch)

I had the same sort of problem with knitting, but beyond crit success, I couldn't even make the novice-level items. I decided to just switch crafting professions to doll prospector. I now have a nice-sized collection I've obtained from the ebay AH.

So that's where she went!

It seems as though in other MMO's I've played it was usually about 25% women in the raiding guilds. Here in LOTRO people have been surprised to hear me speak on the fellowship chat....They always make a comment like, "Wow, a real girl." So I wasn't thinking that there were that many females playing LOTRO. I even heard some chat in OOC - "girls don't play video games", "real females don't exist, just dudes who pretend they are" and my favorite, "any girl who actually is playing must be ugly."
I was completely surprised to see how many girls were on lotrofaces but I think we are a little more "appearance-based" and are drawn to this sort of thing more than guys.

Gimli speaks out on the subject, "It's true you don't see many gamer women. And in fact, they're so alike us in voice and appearance that they're often mistaken for gamer men."

Disco, you have some good points. Generally, MMO population percentages is about 25% female. The only reason I had such a high percentage in my guilds was the fact that I would swoop down on someone extremely harshly in cases of harrassment or otherwise, so my fellow men got trained early on. Women pay to play just like the rest of us, guys just have to bare in mind they didn't pay for a dating service. That's what scares many a female playing into not even using features like voice chat. Cool thing is, hopefully something like lotrofaces.com will help to break the oppinions and create a more open minded community.
Also, not many people IRL know I game. Mostly due to the IRL OOC channel being filled with, "Men don't play video games, only boys.", "Any guy who actually is playing must be ugly, a loser and live in his mom's basement." My personal favorite "Real men don't exsist, only dudes who pretend they are." doesn't really have anything to do with gaming. Although if I had a nickle for everytime I have heard it, I'd have $2,163.35.
